Renways take their first Powerscreen screening plant

Privately owned Renways (Aggregates) Ltd own and operate a 50-acre quarry at Creeton, near Grantham, Lincolnshire, producing a range of limestone products ranging from soft oolitic material, which is rendered to dust suitable for agricultural use, through to clean, hard ‘blue’ stone, which is crushed and screened to produce specifically sized aggregates. The company produce around 250,000 tonnes a year and market their products throughout eastern England.

For screening and stockpiling purposes, Renways have recently invested in their first Powerscreen dry screener, a Chieftain 2100 Triple Deck model, which is currently processing around 360 tonnes/h. This mobile plant is now a lynchpin of Renways’ production process and is moved along the quarry face as work progresses, receiving as-dug and crushed stone directly with minimal rehandling.

The Chieftain 2100 Triple Deck features a 20ft x 5ft (6m x 1.55m) triple-deck screen unit and is capable of outputs up to 500 tonnes/h (depending on mesh sizes and material types). The machine is equipped with heavy-duty, low ground pressure crawler tracks for agility and manoeuvrability around the site, while the design of the unit allows maximum access for service and maintenance.

Designed for high-volume processing of aggregates, coal, crushed stone and demolition debris, the Chieftain 2100 Triple Deck easily handles the different densities of limestone extracted at Creeton and is capable of producing up to six end products for Renways, if required. A particular advantage of the plant is that 1.6m has been added to the side conveyors, allowing for higher stockpiles.

Steve Johnson of Renways (Aggregates) Ltd says he is extremely impressed with the plant and equally well satisfied with the service received from Powerscreen International and their distributors, Powerscreen Midlands.
