£1 million investment at Tam’s Loup

Three new bitumen tanks have been installed at Hanson Aggregates’ Tam’s Loup Quarry as part of an investment programme totalling more than £1 million.

"The Benninghoven tanks can each store 100 tonnes of material and are the first of their size to be installed at a Hanson site in the UK. They feature low-energy usage and minimal heat loss. The tanks are expected to use only 12kW of energy, while traditional tanks can consume up to 85kW. One of the tanks is dedicated to the production of Tuffgrip, which has been laid for the first time in Scotland by Hanson Construction Projects on the access roads to the new Falkirk Wheel millennium project."

"Another addition at Tam’s Loup is a new 80-tonne hydraulic excavator, with two new 40-tonne Cat dumptrucks on order, all replacing hire equipment. The investment programme at the quarry has also included a new secondary crusher, a new feed hopper, as well as additional conveyors."
