Polish role for former Ennstone executive

Owen Batham appointed as operations director of Poland’s newest and largest independent operator

OWEN Batham, former chief executive of Ennstone Concrete Products Ltd, has recently been appointed as operations director at Dolnoslaskie Surowce Skalne S.A. (DSS), in Poland.



In addition to his existing role as sales and marketing director with UK-based Elite Precast Concrete Ltd, Mr Batham has agreed to take an interim directorship with Poland’s newest and largest independent quarrying company.

DSS have recently opened a state-of-the-art amphibolite quarry at Pilawa Gorna, in the south-west of the country, and are reported to be close to securing the acquisition of a number of additional quarrying operations.

The quarry at Pilawa Gorna has reserves of 390 million tonnes and currently produces 7 million tonnes per annum, which is used to service a number of major road construction projects. DSS say they also plan to operate a number of site-based ready-mixed concrete and asphalt plants.



Commenting on his appointment, Mr Batham said: ‘Being involved in such an exciting new business is a great challenge and I look forward to helping DSS become a true market leader during this period of intensive capital investment in nationally important infrastructure projects.’
