Pilot Crushtec launch new impact crusher

Track-mounted TwisterTrac VS300 marks new-generation design for South African manufacturer

PILOT Crushtec have launched their next-generation TwisterTrac VS300 impact crusher, which replaces the award-winning TwisterTrac AC210. The new track-mounted vertical-shaft impact crusher promises to meet current market needs and increasingly tighter environmental legislation.

Designed for high-volume tertiary and quaternary crushing applications, the VS300 is capable of processing material at throughputs up to 300 tonnes/h and has been developed to accommodate Cat Tier 4 C13 and C15 ACERT engines, which comply with stringent European and American standards for carbon emissions.

‘These strict standards dictated a drastic change in design so we decided to start with a clean sheet and conceived a completely new product from the ground up,’ explained Jorge Abelho, director of operations for Pilot Crushtec. ‘We’ve also incorporated improvements gained from our experience with the TwisterTrac AC210.’

Typical of these is the TwisterTrac VS300’s troughed feeder, which has been designed to reduce the number of moving parts. The crusher also features a new mounting and vibration isolating system that is constantly visible, allowing easy replacement of all four rubber-mountings.

The VS300 motor has moved to a side position on the plant, which ensures easy access and maintenance. At least 30 other major design changes have been made on the crusher to reduce maintenance.

According to Pilot Crushtec, more than 3,500 computer-assisted drafting man-hours went into the design process, which has helped deliver a machine with significantly improved performance while being fully compliant with the latest European ergonomic and safety standards.

‘The TwisterTrac VS300 will bear the CE mark and be accompanied by an operations manual in the language of every country in which it is sold,’ said Dawie Scholz, drawing office manager at Pilot Crushtec.

The new machine is also equipped with a state-of-the-art CANbus electronic control system – a first in South Africa – providing real-time filter monitoring and sophisticated human-machine interaction technology.

The TwisterTrac VS300 is available with a choice of four different power packs: C13 Tier 3 (328kW); C13 Tier 4 (328kW) for European markets; C15 Tier 3 (405kw) for local use; and C15 Tier 4 (405kW) as an export option.

Mr Abelho said: ‘We have also increased the sizes of the diesel and hydraulic tanks in line with the increased power output to over 1,200 litres, so the machine can operate non-stop for at least one and a half 8h shifts.’
