Paving the way

GWJ Contractors Ltd, specialist planing contractors, have taken delivery of the UK’s first Bitelli SF 200 LE planer from Finnpave, the specialist surfacing division of Finning UK.

Gordon Brown of GWJ Contractors Ltd commented: ‘The Bitelli planer is a benefit to our operation, being highly manoeuvrable and allowing operators to mill quickly and accurately. Roads are rehabilitated at a faster rate, which is a huge advantage for residents and other local users of the network.’

Finnpave made a number of modifications to the planer for GWJ including to the door at the rear of the machine so that when the planer goes round a corner it hydraulically retracts, allowing the machine to operate within a much tighter working radius.
