OMI Emergency Medical Grab Bag
New medical backpack designed to saves lives in remote quarries, pits and mining locations
A SPECIAL backpack-style emergency medical kit which holds all the key components needed by on-site personnel to monitor and stabilize a patient’s condition in an emergency has been developed for mine and quarry use by Wales-based OMI Ltd.
The OMI Remote Emergency Medical Grab Bag weighs 19kg and can be carried as a backpack or in three separate sections. Waist and chest support straps distribute the weight of the pack evenly, while broad, padded shoulder straps make it comfortable to carry.
The backpack quickly zips open, giving access to almost every essential piece of medical kit needed to monitor, resuscitate and stabilize a patient – including oxygen and a defibrillator.
OMI say every aspect of the contents has been thoroughly thought through, ranging from a head-torch for emergencies in the dark to easy-to-follow ‘panic instructions’ in simple words and diagrams.
Moreover, users can subscribe to 24h remote telemedical back-up service from anywhere in the world, giving access to experienced medical staff should it be necessary to talk through a medical emergency. In addition, customized training sessions and videos are available for major clients.
The fire-retardant OMI Remote Emergency Medical Grab Bag has been extensively tested in the harshest wet weather conditions and is also heavily padded to withstand knocks. The standard backpack is available in a conspicuous bright blue colour, but OMI can customize the pack – such as the use of branded and/or high-visibility materials – and its contents to suit specific requirements.
