New submersible dewatering pumps from Weir Minerals

Weir Minerals, specialists in the delivery and support of slurry equipment solutions, including pumps, hydrocyclones, valves and wear-resistant linings, have now added a range of submersible mine dewatering pumps to their product portfolio.

Application of the company’s specialist slurry knowledge and experience from around the world in global mining and mineral-processing industries has resulted in the development of the Warman SJ submersible dewatering pump range.

Typical applications for the Warman SJ range include: sand, gravel and hard rock quarrying, opencast mine dewatering, clarified water, underground mine dewatering, alluvial mining level control, and mineral processing plants.

Equipped for immediate use, the Warman SJ submersible dewatering pumps’ robust but low-weight design, encapsulated motor and absence of external moving parts make installation and operation easy, trouble-free and safe.

A modular design and common component philosophy has been used throughout the entire range with interchangeable spare parts. This, together with simple access to the separate sealed electrical junction box and easily adjusted and replaced wet-end parts, ensures easy service and maintenance.

The Warman SJ dewatering pumps are submersible to a depth of 20m and have no suction lift limitations, making them superior to self-priming pump systems; there are no suction hoses and no vacuum priming issues. Moreover, the pump does not need to be moved with varying water levels and is designed to run dry in the event of the water level becoming too low.

Standard features of the Warman SJ pump range include:
  • heavy-duty construction and lightweight portability for durability and strength with ease of transport, maintenance and less downtime
  • optimum mix of wear-resistant materials, allowing full utilization of wear parts for maximum wear life
  • modular design for easy adjustment and replacement of wear parts and less downtime
  • common components between sizes for reduced spares inventory and ease of maintenance
  • simple access to the separate sealed electrical junction box for ease of cable replacement
  • temperature sensors on the motor windings to allow automatic shutdown in the event of overheating, allowing the pump to run dry without the risk of burn-out
  • high-specification mining cable as standard
  • silicon carbide faces on the primary seal for long life in dirty-water applications.
In slurry pumping, processing and control applications, where the cost of ownership often outweighs capital cost, Weir Minerals say they are committed to helping customers address issues, such as longevity, capacity, efficiency of operation and ease of maintenance.

The company offer an advanced product range incorporating market-leading brands covering virtually any application in any environment, including Warman centrifugal slurry pumps, Geho PD slurry pumps, Cavex hydrocyclones, Isogate slurry valves, and Vulco wear-resistant linings.
