New Schaeffler online condition-monitoring system
Rolling bearing manufacturers Schaeffler have launched a newly improved version of their FAG DTECT X1 online condition-monitoring system for industrial machinery. The latest version is more compact than its predecessor and offers better functionality and flexibility.
The new individual modules – the monitoring unit and multiplexer – are now integrated in a single, compact unit designed for the monitoring of rotating components and machinery (eg bearings, gearboxes, compressors, fans, pumps etc).
The new FAG DTECT X1 online monitoring system also combines all control modules into a single compact housing (260mm x 150mm x 90mm), allowing easy installation in control cabinets. It can record signals from up to eight different sensors and store up to 16 separate monitoring tasks.
The system monitors vibration conditions which, if left undetected, can cause costly unplanned shutdowns of plant and machinery. These conditions include damage to bearings and gears, as well as shaft misalignments. If a specified threshold value or alarm limit is exceeded, the system triggers an alarm. The FAG DTECT X1 is protected to IP67, making it suitable for installation in harsh environments with ambient temperatures from –20ºC to 70ºC.
The vibration monitoring data can be analysed directly on site at the central control station, or the data can be retrieved via a TCP/IP communications link and then analysed by either the end-user or a Schaeffler after-market sales engineer. This means that operators can make changes to system parameters from anywhere in the world.
All commonly used acceleration, speed and displacement sensors can be connected to the FAG DTECT X1 system, allowing process parameters, such as speed, temperature, torque and pressure to be monitored.
