New radar level unit
The new Sitrans LR 400 radar instrument from Siemens Process Instruments offers continuous level measurement solutions for difficult applications on dusty solids.
"Its ability to penetrate dust makes it suitable for applications on cement, fly ash and other dusty materials. In the cement industry, for example, dust has traditionally challenged other level-measurement instruments. Homogenizing silos produce extremely dusty conditions as material is continuously fed and aerated for proper mixing. Vessels storing clinker, kiln dust, and finished cement are also very dusty environments. Sitrans LR 400 penetrates dust to provide reliable readings for improved plant efficiency and reduced operating costs."
"Four-wire power and 24GHz high frequency make the instrument suitable for long-range applications of up to 45m. It features frequency-modulated, continuous wave (FMCW) radar technology as well as advanced echo-processing capabilities such as auto false-echo suppression."
"With its high signal-to-noise ratio and high frequency, Sitrans LR 400 can also be used for liquids in storage vessels. It is virtually unaffected by vapors, high pressure or extreme temperatures."
"Maintenance is minimal as it utilizes non-contacting technology and there are no cables or weights that may break or fall into the vessel. Sitrans can be bolted on to a suitable nozzle, usually without interruption to the process, with flange sizes from 3in ANSI (DIN 80) to 6in ANSI (DIN 150) available. Commissioning is simple, with auto-setup in as few as eight menu-driven steps. The operator can select parameters from the menu using special finger-activated optical-input keys. SIMATIC PDM can be used for easy remote programming using HART or Profibus-PA; built-in self-calibration ensures repeatability."
