New lacing technology from French company
French-based company Minet S.A. have developed Super-Screw, a fastener designed to revolutionize the lacing of conveyor belts. The H-shaped device comprises a multi-ply synthetic textile carcass with a hardened rubber cover material, making it abrasion resistant with high tensile strength.
The conveyor belt is placed between the top cover and the bottom cover of the Super-Screw fastener and is then fixed into place with self-tapping screws using a powered screwdriver. The profile of the fastener allows a longer reach back into the belt, giving the Super-Screw increased strength on a larger belt. A range of different covers, including heat resistant, oil resistant, self-extinguishing etc, allows the Super-Screw to operate under various conditions.
The flexible, one-piece fasteners are designed to follow belt movement around the pulleys. As there is no hinge there is no possibility for conveyed material to sift through the splice. They also have some stretch capacity, which is useful for over-tensioning.
Unlike traditional fasteners, Super-Screw is compatible with belt scrapers as it skives the top belt cover to limit the fasteners’ over-thickness on the belt.
