New Caterpillar machines for L&S Waste Management
Recycling firm strengthens equipment fleet with mix of wheel loaders and excavators including Cat 313
L&S Waste Management have taken delivery of seven new Caterpillar machines, thanks to business expansion and fleet replacement, as well as praising the latest arrivals, supplied Finning UK & Ireland, as ‘reliable plant with a great backup service’.
With waste treatment and recycling facilities in Portsmouth, Fareham and Southampton, the company processes around 275,000 tonnes of construction and industrial waste materials each year, together with supplying ready-mixed concrete and aggregates from these sites.
L&S Waste Management have grown and evolved in the last 15 years, with the number of employees growing from an initial 20 staff to 150. Having bought their first Cat machine 14 years ago, the relationship with Finning has continued to go from strength to strength as support from Finning’s expert team has helped the waste operator manage unplanned downtime.
The latest machines to join L&S Waste Management’s fleet include five Cat excavators – two 313 models, two 320 units, and a 325, as well a 962M wheel loader and a 938M loading shovel. All the machines feature additional fire suppression, guards, and belly plates due to the harsh environment they operate in and are fully supported by Finning’s premier five-year/8,000h warranty.
Steve Harman, operations director at L&S Waste Management, commented: ‘We’ve been working alongside Finning for many years as we get great service back up from their team and the Cat product is high quality and reliable, which is key for us, as we have such high volumes of material going through our sites. They stand the test of time, and they hold a good residual value, and with the warranty package and guaranteed buy back from Finning you know what your costs are going to be and there are no hidden extras.’
Finning are also supporting L&S Waste Management with asset management services, as their Caterpillar plant fleet is connected with Cat VisionLink, which provides key data on fuel burn, machine health and idle times.
Jack Pilgrim, territory account manager for Finning UK & Ireland, said: ‘Keeping the machines running is top priority for L&S, together with running their fleet efficiently, especially since the switch from red diesel last year, so our report for L&S records data such as average running and idle time, the average fuel burn across their fleet, and the amount of operator-induced fault codes.’
