National Highways’ PDF success for Hanson
Hanson Contracting secure share of road surface maintenance work over next five years
HANSON Contracting has been named as one of the contractors to share £1.3 billion-worth of road surface maintenance work for National Highways over the next five years.
The business has secured a position in the central and southern super regions (Areas 7 & 9 – Midlands, 6 & 8 – East, 1 & 2 – South-west, and 3 & 4 – South-east) to supply materials, plant and labour in the third iteration of National Highway’s Pavement Delivery Framework (PDF).
The new contract includes increased focus on carbon reduction, with warm-mix asphalt specified as the default material of choice.
‘We are delighted to be continuing our strong relationship with National Highways and look forward to helping it meet its 2040 net-zero ambitions for road construction and maintenance,’ said Ian Price, managing director of Hanson Contracting.
‘We will continue to work in some key areas, including Areas 6 & 8 where we are part of an established ISO 44001 community partnership, while returning to work in others.
‘The tender process was extremely rigorous, and our success is testament to the hard work of all those who helped put our bid together.’
