Minerals & the Water Environment

OWING to heavy demand for places, multidisciplinary consultancy Capita Symonds have added another date to their discussion workshops on the emerging implications of the Water Framework Directive and related legislation, policy and guidance for the aggregates industry in England and Wales.

As well as the previously announced one-day events taking place in Birmingham on Thursday 25 January, Bristol on Friday 26 January, and Leeds on Monday 29 January, a fourth event will now take place in London on Tuesday 13 February.

Presentations and discussion topics at each of the workshops will include: The Water Framework Directive and mineral extraction; Industry engagement with strategic planning for the water environment; Managing the interface between planning controls and abstraction licensing for quarry dewatering; Mitigation strategies for reducing impacts on the water environment; and Proposed Water Environment annex to MPS2.

Attendance at all four events is free of charge, as all costs are covered by the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund. For more information or to reserve a place call Claire Huxley at Capita Symonds on tel: (01342) 327161.
