Man dies in truck plunge at Scottish quarry

Dumptruck driver killed while reversing 25-tonne vehicle at sand and gravel quarry in Angus

AN elderly truck driver died last week in an industrial accident at Hatton Mill Quarry, near Friockheim, in Angus, Scotland.

According to Tayside Police, the 76-year-old man was reversing a 25-tonne articulated dumptruck when it toppled into the sand and gravel quarry, which is owned and operated by the Geddes Group.

 

Despite the best efforts of paramedics who attended, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Health and Safety Executive is currently investigating the incident.
