Man dies at Colas-owned inert operation

A 20-year-old subcontractor at Colas-owned Turkeyland Old Quarry inert waste processing operation on the Isle of Man has died after his dump truck overturned trapping him underneath.

Benjamin Osborne of Ramsey died on site last Thursday while feeding material to prepare an area of the waste disposal site at the Ballasalla Turkeyland Recycling and Waste Management operation.

Turkeyland Recycling and Waste Management MD Steph Lowe said in a statement: “'The company wish to express their condolences to the family, friends and workmates of the deceased.

It is too early to comment on the cause of the incident but the police, the health and safety inspectorate and the company's health and safety department are investigating.”
