Lokotrack masters asphalt recycling job
A Lokotrack LT1110S track-mounted mobile crushing plant has helped Lafarge Aggregates to recycle a large quantity of road planings and other waste construction materials at their recycling facility in Radlett, Hertfordshire. The 36-tonne machine, which features a NP1110 impact crusher and a TK11-30S screen, was supplied along with a Cat 330B excavator and other support equipment by Northampton-based contract crushing specialists Peter Bennie Ltd.
The 11-week contract required the Lokotrack to process more than 75,000 tonnes of waste asphalt and aggregates, much of which was then delivered to Lafarge’s on-site asphalt coating plant. This involved the crusher working a 10h day. As material was crushed it was discharged on to the TK11-30S screen for separation. Any oversize material was returned to the NP1110 for crushing in a closed circuit. The screen undersize material was further screened into three main products — 20mm down, 50mm down and general waste from the asphalt products. The graded products were then stockpiled or taken to the on-site asphalt coating plant by a Volvo A30 dumptruck, which was loaded by a Volvo L120D wheel loader.
