Liebherr loader proves its worth

"Hanson Aggregates operate a wide range of processing and materials-handling plant at Ingleton Quarry in North Yorkshire. The linchpin of the truck loading and stockpile management at the end stage of the extraction process is a Liebherr L574 wheel loader that, in the two years since its delivery to site, has completed in excess of 5,500h."

"It has been conservatively estimated that the wheel loader has handled around 350,000 tonnes a year of the highly abrasive material extracted at the site since its arrival. In a recent appraisal of the operating economy and performance of the L574, it was confirmed that the unit was only consuming an average of 11.10 litres of fuel per hour and, in spite of the abrasive nature of the gritstone, tyre wear was significantly better than expected, and only 30–32% after a full two years’ operation."
