Liebherr introduce new LiTiU tilt unit

Liebherr LiTiU tilt unit

New tilt unit attachment expands range of applications of both wheeled and crawler excavators

LIEBHERR have launched a new tilt unit that extends the swing angle of various excavator attachments. With the new LiTiU unit, each fixed attachment is transformed into a more versatile swivel-mounted unit, whilst hydraulic attachments, including those from other manufacturers, can also be combined with the LiTiU unit for an even bigger swing angle, providing better access-to-difficult to reach places without the need to reposition the carrier machine.

Developed by Liebherr, the new LiTiU attachment with its protected swivel motor is available as either a direct mounting or sandwich attachment in two different sizes.

As a direct mounting, the LiTiU 12 or LiTiU 18 unit is mounted directly to the stick end of the excavator. Connection between the bottom of the LiTiU unit and the attachment is achieved using either the Liebherr SWA 33 / SWA 48 quick-coupling system or the fully automatic Liebherr SWA 33 LIKUFIX / SWA 48 LIKUFIX quick-coupling system. Depending on the quick-coupling system used, swing angles of up to 2 x 75° are possible with this version.

Moreover, with the optional extended hydraulic circuit, the LiTiU 18 unit can be activated directly. As a result, the high-pressure and medium-pressure circuits are available for the attachment functions. There is no need to change over to the joystick control elements and productivity can be increased.

With the sandwich attachment version, the connection between both the stick end and the LiTiU 33 or LiTiU 48 unit and the bottom of the LiTiU and the attachment is achieved via the fully automatic SWA 33 LIKUFIX / SWA 48 LIKUFIX quick-coupling system.

With this attachment, swing angles of up to 2 x 50° are possible. One advantage of this version is the externally routed hydraulic piping, which ensures a uniform and constant oil flow. The LiTiU 33 and LiTiU 48 units are, therefore, well suited to attachments with their own slewing drive, such as sorter grabs, but are also beneficial for attachments, such as hydraulic hammers, which do not have their own slewing drive but still require high oil quantities with low pressure losses.

When combined with the fully automatic LIKUFIX hydraulic quick-coupling system, both mechanical and hydraulic attachments on the bottom of the LiTiU can be safely exchanged from the operator's cab in a matter of seconds, whilst the LiTiU 33 or LiTiU 48 unit itself can also be set down fully to allow the carrier machine to be combined with another attachment.
