Latest developments at Selwood Pumps

Selwood H150 high head pump

Building upon their market-leading reputation as the only UK company to design, manufacture, hire and sell a full range of pumps, Selwood Pumps say they are dedicated to a programme of continuous improvement of their existing range of products as well as the development of additional models as part of the company’s ongoing strategic pump programme.

To meet market requirements, Selwood are currently redesigning their high head pump range. The new H100 was launched at Hillhead 2010 and has proved a success in both the UK and export markets, while the new H150 has successfully completed extensive pre-production field trials and is now available in Super Silent and open-set configurations. Several UK and export H150 orders have already been placed and the pumps will be delivered this month.

Meanwhile, the new H200 is currently completing rig tests and will be starting field trials later this year, while the H80 and H125 are currently being redesigned and should be launched in the spring of 2013. A new 300mm solids-handling pump is also being planned for 2013.

A spokesperson for the company said: ‘Selwood are committed to designing and manufacturing a range of world-class high head pumps that offer dramatically improved hydraulic efficiency, flow and head capacities, and suction characteristics, with all units utilizing mechanical shaft sealing to give indefinite dry-running ability.’

In addition, to combat ever-increasing fuel costs, Selwood have upgraded their auto-stop/start control system using the latest available technology. The system is now available with or without telemetry, offering a more flexible and appropriate system for different applications.

The auto-stop/start facility provides efficient and automatic operation with the use of float level controls and ultrasonic level devices to turn the pump on and off as required. Telemetry allows the remote measurement and reporting of pump operation directly to pre-selected mobiles or landlines, providing real-time alarm messages for high level float, failure/start, engine fault and emergency stop activation using pay-as-you-go technology.

Meanwhile, Selwood have recently opened a specialist pump hire and sales branch in Bedford. The modern new facility will house an extensive range of Selwood surface pumps covering solids handling, high head, high flow, hydraulic submersible and chopper applications, as well as a full range of explosion-proof electric submersible pumps, for hire or sale.

Once established, the new branch will be the company’s specialist centre for electro-submersibles and ancillary equipment in the South, complementing Selwood’s specialist pump centre in Liverpool which opened last year to service the company’s northern branch network.
