Kobelco hit new heights with heavyweight excavator
Japanese OEM introduces new SK520LC-11E machine for construction and quarry applications
KOBELCO Construction Machinery Europe (KCME) have announced that they will be presenting the all-new SK520LC-11E excavator model at Intermat 2024.
Replacing the outgoing SK500LC-11, the new heavyweight crawler excavator benefits from increased operating weight, higher power and torque, improved arm/bucket force, and a redesigned upper structure.
Designed specifically for construction and quarrying applications, the SK520LC-11E has a higher operating weight (53,000kg) when compared with the previous model, resulting in increased stability.
The new excavator’s high hydraulic pressure (Heavy Lift) gives the operator greater lifting power at a close radius, assuring smooth and steady operation while carrying heavy loads. In particular, the main relief pressure of the new machine has been increased to 343 bar in normal operation (heavy-lift mode: 378 bar), resulting in a much higher bucket and arm force, and enabling higher lifting performance.
Kobelco have enjoyed a strong reputation as a market leader for supplying heavy-duty earthmoving equipment and the SK520LC-11E will further strengthen the company’s standing in heavy earthmoving and quarrying.
Unlike its predecessor model, the SK520LC-11E is equipped with a more powerful Isuzu engine that produces 348kW and 1,980Nm of torque (versus 300kW and 1,700Nm in the SK500LC-11).
For even more stability on quarrying jobsites, the SK520LC-11E ME (Mass Excavation) version is equipped with a short boom and arm, delivering more productivity than the previous model. The maximum digging reach of this excavator has now been increased from 10,880mm to 11,330mm, while the maximum digging depth is now 6,920mm from 6,480mm.
As with all Kobelco’s Generation 11 machines, the SK520LC-11E follows the company’s Performance x Design concept, boasting a high-quality standard in cabin design, ergonomics, comfort, and safety.
