JCB win Queen’s Award for Innovation

HRH The Duke of Gloucester presents award honouring TorqueLock system for backhoe loaders

JCB have been presented with a Queen’s Award honouring innovation on one of their most successful products.

The company won the Queen’s Award for Innovation for its patented TorqueLock system, which cuts fuel consumption on JCB backhoe loaders.

HRH The Duke of Gloucester (pictured seated) presented the award to Steve Carrington, managing director of the Backhoe Loader Business Unit, at a ceremony attended by hundreds of employees at JCB’s world headquarters in Rocester.

Since 1969 JCB have won 26 Queen’s Awards – five of which have been presented to the Backhoe Loader Business Unit.

JCB group chief executive officer Alan Blake (pictured standing) said: ‘All of our Queen’s Awards are special but when they honour innovation, they take on extra significance because JCB’s success over the past 65 years has been built on innovation. It underpins everything we do.’

Today, almost one in two backhoe loaders sold around the world is made by JCB.
