JCB Makes light work of demolition waste

A JCB 436B ZX wheel loader is being used by Shanks at their waste-recycling operation at Bunny Hill near Nottingham.

The operation has a turnover of 165,000 tonnes of demolition waste each year, ranging from fine topsoils to 3ft2 blocks. Most of the intake of waste is recycled, with only a minimal amount going into landfill. Screens are used to separate out the various types of waste, which are then stockpiled and sold on to customers in the construction and landscaping industries.

The 436 is in constant use loading the waste-recycling equipment, handling the various materials, as well as performing general site-maintenance and clean-up duties.
