IQ Centenary Conference ‘Inspiring for Generations’
Special industry conference and dinner marking 100 years since the formation of the Institute of Quarrying
HOT on the heels of the success of its ‘Quarry Garden’ at RHS Chatsworth, the Institute of Quarrying (IQ) has announced that its centenary conference is to be held at The Belfry in Sutton Coldfield on 19 October 2017.
Marking 100 years since the IQ’s formation, the conference will celebrate the important contribution the industry has made to the UK and global economy.
The conference theme is ‘Inspiring for Generations’ in tribute to the sector’s longevity and its future opportunities.
James Thorne, chief executive officer of the IQ, said: ‘The Quarry Garden at RHS Chatsworth was a fantastic way to engage with the general public and promote all the great things we do as an industry.
‘Our conference is how we’ll celebrate our centenary with our members. It promises to be something extra special.
‘We are delighted to be producing a conference that will reflect on the progress the industry has made in critical areas such as safety, diversity, resource management and the environment over the last 100 years.
‘More importantly, we will look to the future to enthuse delegates by what the industry has to offer and the exciting challenges ahead.’
The ‘Inspiring for Generations’ conference will comprise a number of thought leadership presentations led by guest speakers.
Each of the sessions will use a variety of media to encourage full interaction and participation of delegates, supplemented by case studies from around the globe.
Networking opportunities and a small trade fair will also feature, with a special industry dinner taking place in the evening.
