Hyundai Heavy Industries Europe appoint new MD
Alain Worp, director of construction equipment sales, succeeds J.C. Jung as managing director
HYUNDAI Heavy Industries Europe have announced the appointment of Alain Worp as managing director. Mr Worp has worked for Hyundai for 13 years and has held a number of positions within the sales department, including director of construction equipment sales.
Until his successor is appointed, Mr Worp will fulfil the roles of managing director and director of construction equipment sales.
Hyundai Heavy Industries Europe say they expect to see 5% growth in 2016, compared with the previous year. This would mean that Hyundai have experienced rising market shares for the seventh consecutive year – in growing sales volumes and/or an increase turnover.
Mr Worp (pictured) said: ‘The overall market outlook in Europe next year is not a negative one. Based on today’s knowledge, we expect more or less similar overall market growth as we have seen this year. Therefore, Hyundai Heavy Industries Europe should see further growth.
‘However, due to the slow market conditions outside Europe, we also expect that in 2017 Europe will be the region where all manufacturers will try to secure their business volumes and compensate for their slow sales elsewhere. This in turn will mean that business will once again be tough and challenging.’
Mr Worp has succeeded J.C. Jung who has returned to Korea to take up the position of chief officer of Hyundai Construction Equipment’s forklift division.
