Alain Bourguignon and Marc Soulé to take charge of divestment process as part of planned merger to create LafargeHolcim
HOLCIM have announced Alain Bourguignon, area manager for Canada, the UK and the US, will be seconded to the joint Divestment Committee set up by Lafarge and Holcim as part of their proper merger. He will be supported by Marc Soulé, senior vice president performance manager for Lafarge.
In their new roles, they will perform management presentations to potential buyers of the assets listed for disposal by Lafarge and Holcim. Together, they will prepare the option of divesting these assets, including the option of separating them out in a single package, either in Europe or worldwide. Should management personnel be required for the newly divested assets, Mr Bourguignon will be recommended for the future CEO role and Mr Soulé for CFO.
The two building materials giants announced their intention to form a ‘merger of equals’ in April of this year. Different options for how these divestments should be executed are currently being considered and discussed with the regulatory authorities and with potential buyers.
Meanwhile, Urs Bleisch has been nominated to become member of Holcim’s executive committee. Mr Bleisch is corporate functional manager and will continue to carry out his current responsibilities for Holcim Technology Ltd, Holcim Group services Ltd, as well as for the project management office of the Holcim Leadership Journey.
Roland Köhler, member of the Holcim executive committee and responsible for Continental Europe, will now also be in charge of the UK. This enlarged region will be known as ‘Europe’. Furthermore, Andreas Leu, member of the executive committee and in charge of Latin America will take on the responsibility for the US and Canada. This larger area will be referred to as the ‘Americas’
