Holcim acquire Nicem
Acquisition of low-carbon calcium carbonate leader in northern Italy advances company’s green formulation
HOLCIM have acquired Nicem srl, a leader in ground calcium carbonate based near Bergamo in Northern Italy, whose broad customer base spans industries from construction to plastic, rubber, and paints.
With this acquisition, Nicem’s low-emission raw materials will accelerate the green formulation of Holcim’s sustainable building solutions, from ECOPact to ECOPlanet.
Miljan Gutovic, Holcim region head for Europe, said: ‘Nicem complement our existing operations perfectly and allow us to further leverage our expertise in green formulation, opening a new source of alternative materials to decarbonize our ready-mixed concrete.

The acquisition of Nicem will advance Holcim’s ‘Strategy 2025 – Accelerating Green Growth’ by further fuelling growth with bolt-ons in their aggregates and ready-mixed concrete businesses.
