Highways Term Maintenance contracts register

Highways Term Maintenance BDS have identified 25% of contracts that are due for renewal by the end of 2024, with 10% out of contract by 31 December 2023

The 2023 register of Highways Term Maintenance contracts has been published by BDS

BDS have just published the 16th edition of the Highways Term Maintenance contracts register for Great Britain. The register includes a list of all highways term maintenance contracts, frameworks and in-house provisions for local authorities and major highways maintenance bodies across Great Britain.

The current report identifies more than 300 contracts and information is supplied on a regional and county level. Details of companies handling the contracts in addition to contract start and end dates can be found within the register. Previous purchasers of the register use the information to identify forthcoming dates for contract renewals and obtain target details for potential future acquisitions as well as the supply of products and services.

The recently published Annual Local Authority Road Maintenance Survey (ALARM) report (2023) identifies the stark reality of budget shortfalls across local authorities in Great Britain with the anticipated cost of repairs to the network now in excess of £14 billion. Whilst less maintenance work was carried out on the road networks in 2022 (to help save cost) this will generate more challenges as the road network continues to deteriorate across Great Britain. At the time of publication of the 2023 register BDS identified 25% of contracts that are due for renewal by the end of 2024, with 10% out of contract by 31 December 2023.

The Highways Term Maintenance contracts register is part of a suite of annual contract reports produced by BDS. For further information, email: [email protected]
