Greyhound acquire new Volvo machines

Earthmoving contractors Greyhound Plant Services have recently added 34 items of Volvo heavy equipment to their fleet. Despite the recent downturn in the economy and slowdown in construction, the company, based in Knockin, Shropshire, has enjoyed a buoyant level of business, thanks to a large number of contract awards.

The deal with Volvo Construction Equipment includes: ten A40E articulated dumptrucks; twelve A25E articulated haulers; two EW140C wheeled excavators; and two reduced-swing ECR235C crawler excavators. Greyhound have also bought eight Volvo soil compactors (four SD160DX and four SD122DX models).

One of key factors that persuaded Greyhound managing director Will Jones to purchase the machines from Volvo was their high-quality customer service support throughout the UK.

‘We settled on Volvo because, in our opinion, their after-sales support is second to none,’ he commented. ‘We have equipment operating on projects all around the country, and we can be confident that we are never far away from a Volvo engineer or a support centre whenever there is a problem. Their response times are extremely rapid.’
