Full steam ahead at Barrington
"RMC Rugby Cement Ltd, in association with the Rutland Railway Museum, recently arranged for the temporary return of steam traction at their Barrington Cement Plant in Cambridgeshire as part of the annual Heritage Days initiative run by the Civic Trust."
"In a recreation of past industrial activity, three stream locomotives were operated on the site’s railway system –– the last surviving example of the once commonplace use of standard-gauge railway transport in quarries –– during a special open day for members of the public."
"Two local mineral companies, M Dickerson Ltd and Mick George Haulage Ltd, supported the event by sponsoring the transportation of the locos from their museums in Essex and Rutland."
