Finning move to fill gap in South East
Versatile Equipment appointed as company’s first new General Construction Cat dealer for 2011
PLANT and equipment dealers Versatile Equipment Ltd have become the first new General Construction Caterpillar dealer in a move by Finning to open up new opportunities in the general construction market in South East England.
The Cat equipment now available from Versatile Equipment Ltd includes hydraulic excavators from 1.5 tonnes up to 8.5 tonnes, skid-steer loaders, telehandlers, multi-terrain loaders and compact tracked loaders.
Commenting on the deal, Finning business manager Lee Andrews said: ‘The deal with Versatile Equipment is a major move for us at Finning as we look to make significant growth in our general construction equipment penetration in the UK.
‘We have some extremely strong Caterpillar products in our portfolio, but recognize that even though we have a very comprehensive national branch network, we have been missing out on equipment sales in various parts of the UK, where purchasing decisions are made more on a dealer location basis.
‘With this in mind, we looked at the gaps we had within the market and in particular the South East.
Commenting on becoming a Finning Caterpillar dealer, Paul Rolfe, director of Kent-based Versatile Equipment, said: ‘When Finning approached us with the opportunity of becoming their first general construction dealer, we recognized the real opportunity to increase our business reach, expertise and product range with what is a globally recognized brand.
‘With the continued support of Finning, we know that in the future we will be able to become an even stronger force in the South East from our rebranded Borough Green base.’
