Finning accredit Eco-Drive through Institute of Quarrying
Driver training programme receives ‘Structured CPD’ accreditation from the Institute of Quarrying
AS a part of ongoing competence in the extractive and mineral processing industry, Finning have taken steps to advance their Eco-Drive course by having it accredited by the Institute of Quarrying as ‘Structured CPD’.
The Finning Eco-Drive training programme highlights not only the significant fuel savings that can be achieved by embracing operator best practice, but also encompasses machine maintenance and the most efficient digging and loading techniques.
Using up-to-date engine telemetry data, attendees can see at first hand and in a real-life environment that these practices will work not only for Caterpillar machines, but for almost any piece of plant and equipment in operation at a wide variety of sites.
Institute general manager Mike Phillips, who attended the course for verification purposes and as a part of his own CPD, with a view to adopting these best practices at Hillhead, commented: ‘Having worked in this industry for just over 20 years, the key elements of this training should be aimed not only at plant operatives, but at all levels within an organization.
‘This was a truly eye-opening day, and given the escalating cost of fuel, maintenance and machine operation, I don’t think anyone can ignore this very important subject.
‘The Institute of Quarrying is proud, therefore, to be associated and working with Finning on this valuable form of training, and is very happy to accredit it with the 5h Structured CPD logo for inclusion on certificates of attendance.’
