Eriez introduce airless metal recovery system

ProSort II helps reduce landfill, re-use metals and save energy

Eriez Magnetics Europe Ltd have introduced the ProSort II airless metal recovery system, designed to help reduce landfill, re-use metals and save energy. It is designed for the efficient and economical processing of shredded automobile, co-mingled recyclables, as well as many other resource recovery operations.

The ProSort II uses high-sensitivity metal sensors aligned with low-energy electromagnetically driven paddles to separate valuable metals from waste material. It includes all of the advanced features of the original Eriez ProSort, but with twice as many sensors per paddle.

The ProSort II airless metal recovery system uses a traditional conveyor belt and sensors to detect metals. Instead of using a costly air-reject system it uses a cost-effective electromagnetic motorized paddle-reject system. These paddles are positioned side by side in a bank as wide as the belt, so when the sensors detect metal on the belt, the control panel energizes the appropriate paddle and ejects the metal from the product stream. This system recovers the majority of non-ferrous and stainless steel from the waste stream.

The motorized paddle system is adjustable to maximize separation efficiency. It comes in a modular design in units up to 3,250mm wide. By replacing expensive air compressor plants, valves and airlines with energy-efficient electromagnetic drives, the ProSortII requires less than 25% of electricity needed to operate a comparably sized air-powered sorter.

The ProSort II is used for the recovery of post eddy current separator residue and maximum recovery of metals. It is suitable for end-of-line processing and can be used in conjunction with permanent magnetic drums and eddy current separators for a complete metal recovery system.
