E2S unveil GRP explosion-proof sounders and loudspeakers

Glass-reinforced polyester sounder

Glass-reinforced polyester products offer superior corrosion resistance in harsh environments

E2S, one of the world’s leading warning signalling manufacturers, have announced the launch of their new GNExS1 (117dB at 1m) and GNExS2 (123dB at 1m) explosion-proof horns and loudspeakers.

Manufactured from cost-effective and lightweight glass-reinforced polyester (GRP), the GNEx family offers outstanding corrosion resistance for use in the harshest environments both offshore and onshore. Both models offer a choice of 45 different alarm tones, including those that meet PFEER regulations, and a second or third tone can be selected using additional control wires giving the versatility of multiple tones from a single unit at a lower cost.

The 15W GNExL1 and 25W GNExL2 loudspeakers are available in 8 Ohm,16 Ohm and 100V line versions.

All the GNEEx units have been certified to ATEX and IECEx approvals, while other approvals such as UL, GOST R and InMetro will follow soon. The GNExS1 sounder has a certified temperature range of -60C to +50C at Ex d IIC T4, with an extended temperature range of +70C at IIB T4 so it can be installed in almost all Zone 1 (Cat 2G) and Zone 2 (Cat 3G) areas.

A key feature and benefit of the new design is that the flame paths use a large screw thread instead of the usual spigot joint, making it much easier to disassemble and saves time and costs during installation. The standard colour for all GNEx products is red, although other colours are available as an option, as are alternative options on thread entries in place of the standard 2 x M20.
