Doosan open new plant in South Korea
DOOSAN Infracore have officially opened a new plant at Gunsan, in South Korea’s Jeonbuk province, increasing the company's global production capacity of machines (excluding Bobcat and other brands) by nearly 10% to 45,000 machines per year.
The company has invested KRW114.6 billion (US$101 million) in the new plant, which forms a key part of its strategy to become a top-three global construction equipment manufacturer by 2014. The 610,000 sq m factory will manufacture 4,000 large construction machines a year, comprising Doosan’s six largest excavator models and four largest wheel loaders.
Doosan’s other major production plants include a 13,000-machines-per-year factory in Incheon, South Korea, the company’s 25,500-unit capacity plant in Yantai, China, and a 2,500-machine facility in Belgium.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Gunsan factory, Doosan chairman Y.H. Park commented: ‘This new plant will grow to become the core of our construction machine business, together with China’s Yantai plant. It will create new jobs for around 1,600 people by 2014, and also contribute to the local economic development.’
