Doosan Bobcat launch new DL220-5 wheel loader

Doosan DL220-5 wheel loader

Latest Stage IV-compliant machine offers high productivity and improved fuel economy

DOOSAN Bobcat EMEA have launched their new DL220-5 wheel loader, the latest in the company’s new DL-5 generation of Stage IV-compliant machines, offering high productivity and fuel economy.

Powered by a six-cylinder, turbocharged Doosan DL06P water-cooled diesel engine, which delivers an output of 119kW (160hp) at 2,100 rev/min and a maximum torque of 735Nm at 1,400 rev/min, standard features on the DL220-5 include: a powershift transmission with optimized hydraulic pumps; multiple power modes; a Z-bar lift arm; and ‘return-to-dig’ and limited-slip differentials on both the front and rear axles.

The Z-bar lift arm linkage is suitable for scooping, loading, carrying and general construction tasks. For plant operators requiring additional dumping capabilities, the DL220-5 wheel loader is available with high-lift Z-bar configuration, extending the dump height 457mm above that of the standard configuration. The extra height is beneficial for loading material into high-sided trucks, high hoppers, building stockpiles and handling solid waste.

The machine – which features fully automatic transmission – has more traction when digging, grading or loading trucks, thanks to the limited-slip differentials. In tough terrain, the limited slip also allows the wheel with the most traction to receive the torque needed to provide superior tractive force so operators can keep working, even in soft or wet ground conditions.

Operators on the DL220-5 wheel loader can also choose between three work modes – Economy (Eco), Normal and Power – that adjust the machine’s performance to the application and deliver the right balance of power and fuel economy.

The machine is factory-installed with CoreTMS – a new state-of-the-art wireless fleet-monitoring system previously not available as standard on Doosan wheel loaders but now incorporated in all new DL-5 generation products.

Doosan have ensured operator comfort is at the centre of their design priorities. Offering generous headroom and an ultra-comfortable, fully adjustable (vertical and horizontal), heated Grammer air-suspension seat, the DL-5 cab features a new steering column design that provides more clearance for the operator’s legs and knees. The steering wheel can also be tilted and moved telescopically to match the driver’s preferred position.

On the control panel, all the switches are within easy reach of the operator. Rocker type switches have been replaced by a multi-selection touchpad, while the accurate and smooth joystick controls help drivers save time and reduce the number of operations with the machine’s boom kick-out and return-to-dig systems.

The DL220-5 has been designed for ease of maintenance and includes additional oil-sampling ports to improve preventive maintenance procedures. In addition, various fluid pressures are now viewable from the dash panel, allowing monitoring from the cab.
