THE latest edition of the Directory of Quarries and Quarry Equipment (31st edition, 2007/2008) is now available from QMJ Publishing Ltd. Containing fully updated information on around 2,000 operational UK quarries, pits, opencast sites and recycling centres, this biennial publication has long been the definitive reference source for the UK quarry products and recycling industries.
In the two years since the last edition of the directory was published, further consolidation of the UK aggregates industry has taken place, most notably the acquisition of RMC by CEMEX and the takeover of Aggregate Industries by Holcim. An informative commentary on this and other aspects of the industry is included at the front of the new edition.
As usual, the 31st edition also includes fully updated contact details of ready-mixed concrete plants, coating plants, rail depots and wharves, as well as over 1,500 companies supplying plant, equipment, materials and services to the industry, together with nearly 400 organizations covering industry-related areas such as government offices, mineral planning authorities and trade associations.
In addition, to make the Directory even easier to use, this latest edition has been given a fresh new look with the introduction of colour-coded sections to help locate the main content groups.
