Dig-A-Crusher for Scottish contractor

A Dig-A-Crusher 900 bucket is helping George McNaughton & Son to work efficiently and reduce costs on small-scale crushing projects. The 0.70m3 capacity crusher, currently mounted on a 26-tonne Hitachi 255 excavator, was supplied by Worsley Plant and has proved to be a viable and economical alternative to a track- mounted mobile crusher.

Company partner George McNaughton explained: ‘For jobs requiring the crushing of more than 3,000 tonnes of rock or demolition waste, the track-mounted mobiles are the perfect machines. But on smaller jobs they are often uneconomical. They require an excavator to load them and a wheel loader to support them, which means more operators and time are needed. We, therefore, wanted an economical alternative.’

The Dig-A-Crusher 900 unit, with a 700 tonnes/h capacity, has been designed to meet small-scale crushing needs and forms part of a three-model range suitable for attachment on excavators in the 14 to 35 tonnes operating weight class. All three models employ standard jaw crusher principles and feature an eccentric shaft and settings to meet different applications.

The Dig-A-Crusher buckets can reduce oversize quarried rock or construction and demolition waste of up to 130mm, down to –20mm, with the added advantage of carrying out loading, crushing and stockpiling with one machine.
