Develon unveil new wheel loader for waste-handling work
Company showcases prototype waste loading shovel for the first time at RWM Expo 2024
DEVELON have provided the first look at a pre-production model of their latest wheel loader targeting specifically the waste-handling equipment market at RWM Expo 2024 (11-12 September).
Based on the successful Develon DL280-7, the prototype model heralds a new generation of waste-specification wheel loaders with improvements in safety, productivity, cab design, and operator comfort.
The new machine boasts a novel design featuring a strong, lightweight loader frame and an innovative lifting arm designed to minimize the front-end weight of the loader. Develon say this provides super high lift and reach capability, resulting in a higher dump height while maintaining excellent manoeuvrability. The heavy-duty axles of the new wheel loader contribute to exceptional stability.
For assured loading, the machine is equipped with a high-tip bucket. The lower bucket pivot pins feature internal greasing lines to prevent damage caused by loaded material.
Engineered to deliver strong performance in waste-handling applications, the new wheel loader features exoskeleton technology and a variety of machinery guards (eg mesh type windshield, articulation, belly protection etc) for extra protection.
Other key features include heavy-duty radiator guards, rim covers for the wheels, solid tyres with suspension cutouts, high visibility chevrons on the rear, and a fire suppression system.
Safety and operator comfort are integral to the design of the new wheel loader. The machine benefits from a roomier, more comfortable cab with an enhanced ergonomic control layout and specialized air filtration.
The seat is equipped with fully adjustable horizontal and vertical suspension settings, a pneumatic lumbar function, and heating as standard. There is a three-point safety belt with alarm icons on an 8in touchscreen monitor and gauge panel, which features a new layout and anti-reflective glass.
The machine also features an optional artificial intelligence (AI) camera detection system to ensure the safety of all personnel in close vicinity. For added safety, a large glass window area provides exceptional visibility and reduces blind spots around the cab.
Full LED working lights are installed on the cab (four on both the front and rear as standard, with the option of six each at the front and rear). For greater pedestrian safety, the LED lights on the rear bonnet have an automatic strobe function to indicate when the wheel loader is reversing.
Included in the information at the operator’s fingertips on the touchscreen is the feed from the rear-view camera, the weighing system, the HVAC controls (heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning), radio and Bluetooth devices (music streaming, hands-free etc), and the operator help function.
