Dantherm Filtration help improve air quality at asphalt plant

Dantherm Filtration, leading manufacturers of industrial air filtration products, have supplied an FS range compact, modular, horizontal bag filter to help extract and control dust emissions at an Aggregate Industries asphalt plant in Salford.

The energy-efficient filter system, an FS722/2.5/350 model, meets the plant’s 46,000m3/h extraction requirement, with pre-separation provided by a close-coupled skimmer.  

The waste discharge is segregated so that the coarse dust from the skimmer can be recycled, while the dust collected by the filter unit is separately stored in a silo for reuse in the mixing process as required.  

The skimmer is a high-volume coarse-particle pre-separator, developed specifically for the asphalt sector, with the ability to separate large, abrasive, hot particles (up to 180°C) from fine material. It has no moving parts but incorporates an adjustable blade to set the level of separation.

The bag filter also includes a direct-driven 90kW fan, which has been fitted with an inverter, allowing the fine-tuning of airflow conditions, while ensuring the motor operates at maximum efficiency.   

Emission monitoring and isokinetic sampling points are situated in the stack, serviced by a dedicated access platform, to ensure compliance with current emission standards. 

Since installation, the FS722/2.5/350 filter has made a positive change to the asphalt mixing plant, helping Aggregate Industries to meet environmental objectives and health and safety concerns.
