Crushing defeat for hard rock
According to Cooper Roller Bearings, split roller bearings can offer considerable cost-saving benefits in a multitude of industries, with typical applications including trapped positions and hostile environments where abrasive dust or water penetration could cause premature bearing failure. The Cooper range is designed retain lubrication and keep out damaging particles, even in submerged applications to a depth of 30m.
The HS1110 horizontal-shaft impact crusher manufactured by Lightning Crushers, a division of Hunwick Engineering Ltd, uses 02 Series BCPN (bearing, cartridge and nodular iron pedestal), 120mm shaft size, with GR (fixed) and EX (expansion) bearings. The crusher’s 850 rev/min rotor weighs 2,100kg and has an effective diameter of 1m. The force developed at the tip of the rotor breaks up material with a maximum feed size of 180mm3.
The crusher incorporates all the preferred features required for both primary and secondary crushing of hard rock, as well as recycling applications. It is available with or without a grinding path and features exclusive variable location of the impact bars for optimum usage of consumable parts.
Cooper split bearings were specified on the crusher for ease of operation and cost-effective maintenance. The split-to-the-shaft bearing design allows maintenance and inspection to be carried out at any suitable opportunity, with full access to the bearing in situ saving hours in maintenance time and cost.
