Imerys Minerals Ltd have ordered a total of 16 new Caterpillar machines for use at their St Austell kaolin mining operations, including the UK’s first all-new Cat 988G wheel loader.

The 50-tonne 988G, which is distinguished by its long wheelbase and boom-style loader linkage, is designed for maximum productivity in bulk material handling and excavation work. The Imerys deal, placed through Finning (UK) Ltd, incorporates a further four 980G wheel loaders, four D9R track-type tractors and seven 775D off-highway dumptrucks.
