Cooper Crouse-Hinds launch new light fitting

COOPER Crouse-Hinds have launched a new version of their eLLK 92 range of explosion-proof fluorescent light fittings. The latest eLLK 92 DCA option has an integrated AC/DC module that allows connection to 220V central batteries. The module is integrated to the electronic ballast (EVG).

While many customers already use the company’s CG-S range of Ex fluorescent light fittings, these units are considered to be high-end solutions, designed for individual monitoring and programming of multiple light fittings within an emergency lighting installation. However, the eLLK 92 DCA unit is a more cost-effective option for users who do not require individual monitoring, only circuit monitoring.

Gordon Low, marketing segment manager for Cooper Crouse-Hinds, commented: ‘The eLLK 92 DCA is another unique, innovative lighting product. By integrating the AC/DC module with the electronic ballast, our engineers were able to design and manufacture a very cost-effective light fitting solution compared with solutions from other competing lighting suppliers.’

The eLLK 92 DCA functions as a two-lamp AC mains light fitting. However, in the event of a changeover to the DC supply via the battery, the unit switches to a single-lamp operation in its emergency lighting mode. As a result, the power consumption for the battery is halved while at the same time the luminance intensity is reduced.

The eLLK 92 DCA is protected to Category II 2G Ex d e IIC T4 in accordance with the ATEX Directive for use in potentially explosive gas atmospheres (Zones 1 and 2). The luminaire is also suitable for potentially explosive dust atmospheres (Zones 21 and 22) and is certified to Category II 2D Ex td A21 IP66 T80 in accordance with the ATEX Directive. In addition, the light fitting complies with the latest equivalent IEC standards for gas and dust.

All eLL92 light fittings are made from high-grade plastics, while the materials used in the sealing system help to protect the unit from corrosion and contamination.
