Compact loader takes charge
Rivar Sand & Gravel have taken delivery of a Volvo L25B compact loader for their operation on the outskirts of Newbury in Berkshire.
The L25B was chosen following a demonstration and the previous experience of one of the company’s machine operators. Jon Gage, general manager, commented: ‘The size of machine is just right for our operation since we tend to generally load customers’ small trailers and light pick-up trucks. The quick changeability between the bucket and pallet forks is a real boon as well.’
The L25B is powered by a Volvo 3-litre oil/air-cooled engine rated at 62hp acting on a fully hydrostatic transmission with full powershift, allowing the machine to change direction under full load for fast cycle times. Equipped with a 0.8m3 general-purpose bucket, the L25B has a full-turn tip load of 3,400kg and, when fitted with pallet forks, has a lifting capacity of 2 tonnes. The machine’s operating weight is 4.8 tonnes.
The cab features a wide-opening door for easy entry and exit, a simple dashboard
and a single servo loader-control lever incorporating direction control. A full-width engine hood provides easy access to all the major components of the engine, hydraulic system and transmission.
