Monmouthshire plant hire company agrees substantial fleet investment deal following period of strong growth

CHEPSTOW Plant International, one of the UK’s leading plant hire companies, have made a substantial investment agreement with Volvo following a period of strong growth.

The privately owned mineral and aggregate contractor, based in Caldicot, Monmouthshire, has invested more than £20 million in 99 new Volvo quarrying and earthmoving machines, including 59 dumptrucks, 20 excavators, and 20 wheel loaders ranging from 25 to 50 tonnes, including the flagship Volvo L260H.

The investment deal will run over the course of six months, from April to October 2018, and is part of an ongoing established relationship with Volvo. By the end of the investment period, Chepstow Plant will have purchased 245 machines from Volvo over a three-year period – an investment totalling more than £55 million.

As part of Chepstow Plant’s commitment to the environment, health and safety, and employee welfare, all of the new machines will fitted with high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) cabin filters, which will help improve air filtration.

In addition, all the dumptrucks will be fitted with inclinometers to ensure the machines tip in a safe working environment and help prevent the risk of overturns, thereby further improving site safety and allowing the company to graduate towards ‘Zero Risk’.

The company has also invested in the new Volvo telemetry system and failed tip data on the dumptrucks. This will allow Chepstow Plant to conduct real-time analysis into any recorded failed tips, to help boost site productivity.

Commenting on the investment, Ross Hayward, asset manager at Chepstow Plant International, said: ‘One of our main priorities is to offer our customers the best machinery available in the marketplace. This new investment deal is a significant one for us and demonstrates our continued commitment to providing our clients with the most advanced equipment available, as well as the most environmentally friendly.

‘We have worked with Volvo for many years now and are thrilled that we are able to continue our relationship and purchase high-quality equipment for our customers.’
