Caterpillar announce new large hydraulic shovel
New Cat 6030 mining shovel meets strictest emissions standards and delivers high productivity and reliability
POWERED by a pair of fuel-efficient Cat C27 engines, the new Cat 6030 hydraulic mining shovel is available in configurations to meet the strictest diesel emissions standards, such as those in North America and Europe. It is also the first in the Cat hydraulic shovel line to display the new Cat Modern Hex graphics.
As with previous models, the 6030 is offered in both backhoe and faceshovel configurations, which weigh 296.5 tonnes and 294.3 tonnes respectively. With a standard bucket capacity of 17 cubic metres (backhoe), 16.6 cubic metres (faceshovel) and a bucket payload of 30 tonnes, the shovel is a three-pass match with the Cat 777 truck and a five-pass match with the Cat 785 mining truck.
The shovel has a maximum tearout force of 994kN in backhoe configuration, a maximum crowd force of 1,898kN in faceshovel configuration and a maximum breakout force (backhoe/faceshovel) of 880kN/954kN.
The new 6030 meets the strictest diesel emissions standards when equipped with a diesel oxidation catalyst emissions control system. In this configuration, the C27 engines meet EU Stage V and US EPA Tier 4 Final emissions standards. The system, which does not use diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), is said to deliver low operating costs.
The 6030 produces gross power of 1,209kW (1,620hp) when configured for lowest emissions. For customers who do not require Tier 4 Final or Stage V emissions performance, the shovel is configured to meet China Nonroad Stage III emissions standards, equivalent to US EPA Tier 2. The machine produces gross power of 1,141kW (1,529hp) in this configuration.
The new shovel features Product Link Elite, which allows data communications for comprehensive machine health monitoring in the operations office using Cat MineStar Health. To further boost machine availability and utilization, major 6030 components are fully integrated into Caterpillar product support systems for reliable parts supply and efficient Cat dealer services.
In addition to the new diesel-powered 6030, Caterpillar continue to offer the electrically powered 6030 AC FS (faceshovel) for mines optimized for such machines.
