Cat unveil new smart access package
Caterpillar have been working with Finning (UK) Ltd on the development of the Smart Access Quarry Package for the Cat 950 to 980 G-series II mid-size wheel loader range, to help quarry managers stay ahead of increasingly stringent health and safety requirements.
Stuart Truckel, Finning UK industry manager for quarry and waste, said: ‘While all Caterpillar machinery already conforms to existing health and safety requirements, the Smart Access Quarry Package is a new bespoke product, designed to pre-empt any future legislative change and ensure that Caterpillar customers stay one step ahead.’
Caterpillar customers can purchase the standard Smart Access Quarry Package or choose from a range of ‘a la carte’ options.
The Smart Access Quarry Package comes with red/white chevrons painted on the counterweight together with a rear blue flashing light. Operators are kept secure with the addition of the ‘Intelligent’ seat belt connector, which features a light beacon on the cab roof that that indicates when the seatbelt is unfastened.
Also included is: a front access platform with additional steps to improve windshield access for cleaning; a 15º ladder, which is released with the park brake and improves access to the driver’s cab; and a swingable, heated mirror to enhance visibility. These three features are also available separately.
