Built to withstand the toughest tests
Visitors to Hillhead 2007 will have the first opportunity to see the new JCB JZ255 LC excavator in action during a series of live demonstrations designed to show the power and efficiency of the company’s new tracked excavator range.
Boasting the benefits of the JS Auto range, the JZ255 LC features a Tier III-compliant engine as well as ergonomic improvements to the operator environment, including a high-backed seat as standard, reduced in-cab noise and the option of climate control.
The JZ255 LC will be joined in the demonstration area by the demolition-specification JS260 XD excavator, which features robust undercarriage guarding and a cab cage for extra protection for the operator. Also making its Hillhead debut will be a machine from JCB’s Robot Series-II skid-steer range. These new-generation skid-steers, comprising five wheeled and three tracked machines with rated capacities from 630–1,150kg, feature a redesigned side access to the cab for even greater safety.
JCB’s demonstration team will also be in action with the HT (high torque) versions of the 436 and 456 wheel loaders. These machines boast more sophisticated operation, a larger field of vision and better visibility of the loader end, an enhanced operator environment and greater performance and serviceability than previously. An articulated dumptruck from the JCB range will also form part of the demonstration.
Meanwhile, visitors to JCB’s static display on stand D6 will be able to take a closer look at another machine from the JS Auto range – the 22-tonne Tier-III JS220 excavator. It will be joined on the stand by the largest machine in the JCB range, the 46-tonne JS460 excavator featuring a 24m long-reach boom.
Among the other machines on static display will be the Groundhog utility vehicle, which has a maximum travel speed of 18 miles/h, a maximum payload of 500kg and a towing capacity of 500kg. The Groundhog is now available with three new cab options for added weather protection, an electric winch and a kit to allow legal road travel between job sites.
Completing the static display will be a range of JCB attachments for use in harsh environments, including breakers and shovels.
