Binn Group staying loyal to Kiverco equipment

New Kiverco C&D waste-processing strengthens a partnership spanning more than two decades New Kiverco C&D waste-processing plant strengthens a partnership spanning more than two decades

Kiverco deliver fourth recycling plant for Scottish waste-management firm

KIVERCO, a global leader in recycling solutions, have delivered their fourth waste-recycling plant for long-standing customer Binn Group, one of Scotland’s most prominent waste-management businesses. The new construction and demolition (C&D) waste facility strengthens a partnership spanning more than two decades and underlines both companies’ commitment to innovation, sustainability, and circular economy solutions.

The new C&D recycling facility will increase throughput, improve material purity, and support Binn Group’s wider green energy initiative, which includes converting waste into fuel.

Binn Group, a third-generation family business, have relied on Kiverco since a major fire damaged their site more than a decade ago. The OEM’s rapid response at that time helped forge a long-standing relationship with Binn Group based on trust and support.

Sustainability is central to Kiverco’s approach, with plants designed for long service life and strong residual value. Binn Group’s previous Kiverco plant, decommissioned from their Glenfarg site after more than a decade of use, was sold on to another Scottish waste operator.

The latest plant includes advanced automation to increase throughput, adapt to changing waste streams, and future-proof operations. A key feature is the addition of an optical sorter, which allows wood to be removed as a waste stream and converted into a valuable fuel source.

The Glenfarg site already hosts four large wind turbines producing 9MW of electricity to create a private power grid. The new Kiverco plant complements this by increasing resource recovery, improving recycling rates, and diverting more material from landfill.

Stewart Smith, director of operations at Binn Group, commented: ‘It’s more robust and heavy-duty than the competitors we considered. Over the years, Kiverco machinery has proven to be dependable and long-lasting, which is why we’ve remained loyal. The new plant has been designed to integrate with our renewable energy infrastructure and is central to our vision for a sustainable, future-proofed business. From the initial enquiry to installation, the process was seamless – Kiverco went the extra mile.’
