Bell Equipment to focus on ‘value commitment’

BELL Equipment say Hillhead 2007 will provide them with a platform to demonstrate their dedication to ‘value commitment’, one key element of which is their recently upgraded Fleetm@tic GPS-based fleet-management system. Designed to provide plant/site operators with useful performance data as well as offering an innovative deterrent to the growing problem of plant theft, the system is available in three packages – Lite, Standard and Max, with the latter providing almost real-time management and control.

Users of Fleetm@tic receive regular reports showing extensive data ranging from engine temperature, idling time and speed to fuel consumption and the weight of load cycles. But as well as this, the system can also be set up to ensure that only named drivers can operate a particular machine (by means of an authorized ID tag), and a virtual geofence can be imposed around a specific worksite, with the plant/site operator being notified wirelessly if a machine exits the designated working area.

Colin Wakeham, technical director of Bell Equipment UK, said: ‘With a GPS-based system like Fleetm@tic, any number of vehicle movements and performance attributes can be recorded, so it makes perfect sense to use it to increase the security of Bell machines for our customers. Plant theft is fortunately not such a major issue with large units over 25 tonnes as it is with smaller machines, such as mini-excavators, but it can happen. Our system gives that added peace of mind to Bell customers, particularly at night-time or at the weekends when their site may not be operational.’

Exhibiting on stand V1, Bell Equipment – official sponsors of the visitor viewing platforms at Hillhead 2007 – will also be showing their new 30-tonne B30D HP articulated dumptruck for the first time in the UK. This higher-performance version of the standard B30D provides a 17% increase in power and 13% increase in torque, thanks to its uprated 7.2-litre Mercedez-Benz engine.

Also on show will be the new G2-series version of the 50-tonne Bell B50D ADT, as well as the popular B40D and B35D models and the standard B30D and B25D units, together with the company’s 4206D tracked industrial scraper tractor.
