BCCF to join MPA as affiliate member
British Calcium Carbonate Federation affiliates to MPA as focus on industrial minerals grows
THE British Calcium Carbonate Federation (BCCF), the UK’s only trade body representing the interests of UK producers and suppliers of chalk, limestone, marble, dolomite and precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC), has agreed to join the Mineral Products Association (MPA) as an affiliate member.
The BCCF has nine member companies with a common agenda that aligns closely with a number of the MPA’s industrial mineral product groups, including cement, lime and silica sand. The MPA is currently enhancing its focus on the industrial minerals sector, having also recently welcomed Imerys as a new member.
Nick Horsley, formerly of Sibelco and now MPA director of Wales and industrial minerals, will be co-ordinating cross-product group dialogue to raise the profile of industrial minerals, and strengthening alignment on common issues.
BCCF chairman Mick Stovin of Francis Flower said: ‘I am delighted that this important development is happening and am confident that future working with the MPA will ensure that important industrial minerals, particularly calcium carbonate and lime, can co-operate more effectively on policy issues of common interest.’
MPA chief executive officer Nigel Jackson, said: ‘Industrial minerals are an essential constituent of the mineral products family and facilitating the exchange of ideas and identification of common issues must only serve the interests of each product group better. We anticipate further growth and development in this area of our work.’
